RADO DESIGN WEEK

For the first time Rado enters the world of digital events to launch the new line of True Square Designer watches, created in collaboration with award-winning designers around the world.

The Swiss company RADO doesn't give up presenting the new models of the 2020 collection and does it by entering the digital world with a dedicated Design Week, in collaboration with the magazine Dezeen.
From October 30th to December 4th 2020 it will be possible to follow live talks with the designers and dedicated videos presenting the products and the philosophy behind the True Square Designer line. The public will finally be called to vote to elect their favorite watch, with the possibility to win it.

From 1917 until today, the Swiss company RADO has always had an important focus on design.
Each collection has always featured one or more top watches specially designed by award-winning and world-famous designers.

For this 2020 RADO called the designers YOY, Formafantasma, Tej Chauhan and Thukral & Tagra to design 4 watches for the new collection True Square Designer.
Four watches who has in common in common the Square shape, as the name of the collection suggests.
Due to the pandemic caused by Covid19, which still affects our lives today, and not being able to present its novelties with an exhibition event, the Swiss company launches a Design Week entirely dedicated to the collection, riding the wave of digital and taking advantage of all the benefits that come with it.

In his Design Week then RADO presents its products through talks with designers and with Adrian Bosshard, CEO of RADO.
Doing so, in addition to the target audience and the public interested in buying, RADO aims to attract the attention of even the most curious and not only experts in the field.

Truesquare Formafantasma
The real innovation of this Truesquare model is the use of high-tech ceramic material.
"We wanted to create a watch that emphasized the qualities of the material and its applications in watchmaking. We did our best to develop a code that would enhance the ceramic and its use for what it is. We did not want ceramic to resemble metal or any other compound, but to look almost naked".

The designer duo Formafantasma was inspired by the historical idea of a closed watch to create a bold and impressive stylistic statement, designed to stand the test of time.
The idea of a closed watch is inspired by historical pocket watches. The watch case was designed to protect the delicate dial and mechanism inside. Only a small opening gives a taste of time, a taste of the watch's true function.
The dial window is protected by a sapphire crystal.
Several materials are integrated into this watch. The bracelet is, like the dial, made of light gray matt high-tech ceramic titanium.
The materials have been specially chosen for their tactility and embrace a distinct and unusual tone on tone style.

The special design not only refers to pocket watches but is also a representation of the name of the Formafantasma duo.
The ghostly appearance is reflected in both the light gray monochrome construction and the almost imperceptible presence of the dial.

Truesquare Undigital - YOY
The first watch signed by Japanese designers YOY wants to give a futuristic atmosphere by mixing and blurring the boundaries between analog and digital watches.
The luminous LED segments, typical of digital watches, are used here to form the hands of the watch. They stand out thanks to a play of colors: bright white hands on an all-black background.

True Square Tej Chauhan
Watch with a very bold style, emphasized by the use of colors: yellow, silver blue and red meet in the dial of the watch. Each color has a very precise function.
Also in this case the designer uses injection-moulded hihg-tech ceramic as a material.

"We strategically use shape, color and material to bring joy to people".

True Square Over the Abyss - Thukral & Tagra
The two Indian artists in this watch offer us a new perspective on time. The clock hands are replaced by two overlapping dials, allowing the person wearing it to control the time in other countries around the world. It will only be a preview, the watch launch is scheduled for the next 2021.
