Design! Oggetti, processi, esperienze the exhibition in Parma

The exhibition takes place in two locations: The Abbey of Valserena and Palazzo Pigorini. Inside are prototypes, drawings, sketches and objects of the greatest faces that have marked the history of design.

Last February 3 opened to the public, in compliance with the anti-Covid-19 restrictions, the exhibition Design! Oggetti, processi, esperienze, produced by CSAC - Center for Studies and Archives of Communication of the University of Parma with the support of the City of Parma and Emilia-Romagna Region, in the context of Parma Italian Capital of Culture 2020+21.

The CSAC archives preserve an immense patrimony of knowledge developed by the designers who were protagonists of the Italian cultural scene of the 20th century and who are still central to the field of design.

The exhibition will take place simultaneously in two locations. The section at the Abbazia di Valserena, home of the Archivio-Museo CSAC, offers until June 30 drawings, prototypes and objects by well-known Italian designers such as Archizoom Associati, Mario Bellini, Cini Boeri, Achille and Piergiacomo Castiglioni, Enzo Mari, Alessandro Mendini, Bruno Munari, Ettore Sottsass jr.
The exhibition also includes the video produced by the Monte Olimpino Studio on the Castiglioni brothers (subject by Bruno Munari, direction by Marcello Piccardo, photography by Michele Piccardo), the videos produced in the 1980s by Metamorphosy and Magazzini Criminali with the collaboration of Alessandro Mendini, and the unpublished film Archivio vivo e Storie di progetti, corpi e processi by Muse Factory of Projects, curated by Francesca Molteni with editing by Silvia Biagioni.

At Palazzo Pigorini, until April 5, the section entitled Bodies and Processes, co-curated by Valentina Rossi, is on stage. It presents the results of the first phase of the project Stories of threads:
three new sculpture dresses by the artist Sissi, conceived through a process of comparison with the heritage of the CSAC (in particular with the figurines of Cinzia Ruggeri, Krizia and Brunetta, present in the exhibition) and made with the companies of the territory Equipage Srl, Maglificio Nuova Ester and Parmamoda Srl, will dialogue with the costumes made by Sartoria Farani, giving rise to a reflection on the body, on the dress and on its creative and sartorial process. For the occasion, the CSAC of the University of Parma has produced Sissi's artist book Abitolario. L'esistenza enciclopedica dell'abito nel verso linguisticato (Il Poligrafo, 2021).
