Mingardo : The Metal Carpentry

Mingardo Ilario founded Mingardo Blacksmith Workshop in 1970, after over twenty years’ experience in the metal processing field.
The production was initially focused on simple blacksmith works for the construction industry. Over the time, it has become more refined, enabling the company to collaborate with internationally renowned companies and architects: from the first collaborations with architect Carlo Scarpa to the more recent commissions for Museo del Novecento in Milan, Parco della Musica in Florence, and Teatro Petruzzelli in Bari.
Over the years, the Workshop has achieved great results, with the production of unique metal products, all hand-wrought by a highly skilled team of specialized artisans. Nowadays, it is highly regarded in the local artisan field for its high-end refined finishing touches and details, and for its know-how.

A FLAME FOR RESEARCH
Ten Candleholders to fight Cancer

Daniele Mingardo, of the very own Metal Carpentry Mingardo, has invited ten internationally renowned designers to support the cause and research of the Mario Negri Institute for Pharmacological Research IRCCS.

This year, therefore, instead of showcasing the new designer collection of the brand during the traditional Fuorisalone, Daniele Mingardo – class of 1988, head of his father’s warehouse for the last ten years – has decided to turn sorrow into something that brings hope, through a gesture of altruism and solidarity, inviting ten internationally renowned designers to design their own candlestick.

The project, result of a significant personal loss, was born with the intention of turning pain into hope, thus giving it meaning and thanks to the cooperation of well-renowned designers it will grow into an auction in collaboration with Christie’s, with the full sale proceeds to benefit Istituto Mario Negri’s bio-medical research programme.

The importance of research and mutual support that were the pivot points of the whole project have never emerged as more evident than during these harsh times we are dealing with.

Due to this very reason, the project will be carried out during next Fall, again in favour of the Istituto Mario Negri, which during the last few months has been at the forefront for research and trial.

In order to highlight the whole concept behind the project and the Istituto, plus to raise awareness towards the issue, a social media campaign was held with the commitment of numerous actors of the Milanese scene, who engaged actively in a series of portraits.
