Designers Philippe NIGRO

Philippe Nigro is a French designer born in Nice, trained in Applied Arts and product design, whose activity mainly develops between France and Italy. His work is characterised by the connection between experimental research and pragmatic analysis of the “know-how” of the manufacturers with whom he works. His experiences are nourished with the combination of the French and Italian cultures and with various collaborations with companies such as Ligne Roset, Cinna, Foscarini, DePadova, Baccarat, Moleskine, Driade, Casati Gallery, CELC, Rado, Hermès, DCW éditions, San Pellegrino, Zanotta, Gebrüder Thonet or Barovier & Toso.

Being an independent designer since 1999, he started his career alongside Michele De Lucchi. In 2014, he won the Maison & Objet Designer of the Year award. He illustrates his expertise in various areas and his capacity to evolve among projects of various types and scales, thus favouring a diversity of answers to the many aspects of design. His activity also developed towards scenography, for the Milan Triennale Design Museum, the Lexus brand or the European Confederation of Flax and Hemp.

Philippe Nigro has been collaborating with the French producer and manufacturer Ligne Roset for several years. He has designed many products, including the Flax and Manarola seats, the Cuts bookshelf or the Passe-passe coat rack. In the early 2000’s, he submitted to the VIA (Valorisation of Innovation in Furniture) a divan project, Intersections, which gave birth in 2009 to the Confluences settee, produced by Ligne Roset. Alongside the Twin-chair, this piece is now part of the collections of the Centre Pompidou and the Paris Musée des Arts Décoratifs.
