Designers Matteo Brioni

Growing up in Gonzaga – on the Mantua plains suffused with history and dotted with fields and clay quarries – forged Matteo Brioni’s choices, as heir to a family whose life has revolved around its historic kiln and the bricks it has turned out day after day for four generations. It was at that kiln, a late 19th century industrial building, that the idea came to Matteo Brioni to set in motion the production which bears his name and pass on the raw clay modelling arts, that primordial material of evocative beauty, in a contemporary style.
Matteo Brioni’s career began in 2010 with deep roots and values and an ethical approach based on conscience and consciousness of what is produced, an aesthetic which respects the natural beauty of the material, its colours and textures, and a genuine environmental focus right through the production process.

In 2021 this legacy of skills and ideas met Atlas Concorde's technological excellence, the Italian ceramic surface and facing brand which chose Matteo Brioni to create a novel collection, Boost Natural. It is a collection capable of transforming  the design dialectic of opposites into aesthetics, taking the material energy of raw earth into the sophisticated concrete effect world. The collection's design marries Atlas Concorde’s over 50 years of experience in porcelain stoneware with the most up-to-date raw earth interpretation.

‘Like many natural materials, raw earth has technological limits’, says Brioni. ‘Meeting Atlas Concorde was an immediate value element with which to design a collection in which to transfer the artistic value of material. It was a challenge I was enthusiastic about as a designer: creating a high performance ceramic surface project inspired by raw earth which generally has very little that is technical about it.’ - Matteo Brioni -
