Designers Stéphane Villard - Gaëlle Gabillet Studio GGSV

“Our work ranges from concrete proposals to manifestos. We are looking for forms that offer different interpretations. Matter is at the heart of our concerns. Our production tackles a contradiction… We imagine more objects to make less objects.”

Studio GGSV was founded by Paris-based designers Gaëlle Gabillet and Stéphane Villard in 2011. Their association produces a unique expertise that ranges from curatorial projects, scenography, product design, interior design to forecast studies for the industry. They won the VIA Carte Blanche in 2011 with their research {black hole object). A research project challenging the notion of clearing, {black hole object) uses a dark matter coming from the ultimate waste and the re-reading of a household appliance reviving the tableware and the decorative arts. It is now part of the permanent collection of the Pompidou Centre.

They are produced by Galerie Cat Berro, Petite Friture and Made in design. Their works are regularly exhibited (MUDAC, Pavillon de l’Arsenal, FRAC, Museum für Angewandte Kunst Francfort, Biennale Design Saint-Étienne, Center for Contemporary Art Castle of Rivara – Turin, Salon du meuble de Milan…). They also work for ACCOR, CEA, EDF R&D, La Cité du Design, Le Lieu du Design, Pompidou Centre, MAM. They have been invited by EDF to design their laboratory workshop. They won the price « Paris Shop & Design » for the interior design of an Accor Hotel. Studio GGSV recently won the interior redevelopment of the Museum of Modern Art of Paris with H20 architects.

Stéphane Villard directs the workshop project INFORM at the Ecole Nationale Supérieure de Création Industrielle/Les Ateliers (Paris).

Gaëlle Gabillet and Stéphane Villard have curated and designed the exhibition “Form follows information” for the International Design Biennial in Saint-Étienne (2015) and the exhibition “Zones de confort” at the Galerie Poirel in Nancy with the CNAP (Centre National des Arts Plastiques). They recently curated and designed the exhibition “Galerie Party” as part of the Pompidou Centre 40th anniversary celebrations.
