News — 07 October 2021

Starting on 9 December 2020, Green Pea will open its doors to the public. This is the Farinetti family's third entrepreneurial project, after the great success of UniEuro and Eataly

Next to Italy's very first Eataly, at Lingotto in Turin, Green Pea, the world's first retail park with an all-Green vocation, opened on 9 December. Five floors, 66 shops, a museum, three restaurants, a swimming pool, a spa and a club dedicated to Creative Laziness. A total of 72 commercial activities and a hundred partners, all committed to the cause of sustainability.

The project's name itself, Green Pea, is a declared manifesto. The small legume is in fact the symbol of Respect, round like the Earth, green like our Planet should be. An invitation not to drastically stop consuming, but to do it with respect, rationally, aware that every action we take has an impact on Earth. Green Pea therefore responds with an idea: it is time to value the beautiful and pleasant side of behaving well, while respecting Nature.

From duty to beauty.

Green Pea covers a building of 15,000 square meters, designed as a resilient and sustainable element in all details. The project developed by architects Cristiana Catino - ACC Naturale Architettura - and Carlo Grometto - Negozio Blu Architetti Associati - has given life to a place with the characteristics of a natural organism, able to breathe and make people breathe, to demonstrate the importance of a more sustainable life through its own beauty: it is not surprising that the building is surrounded by more than 2,000 trees, plants and shrubs.

From an engineering point of view, the fundamental concepts of sustainability and respect have also been applied to the more technical components of the building. The Green Pea building demonstrates the effectiveness of alternative energy production through the use of renewable sources such as geothermal wells, photovoltaic and solar panels, elements for capturing wind energy and recovering kinetic energy.
