The garage

The word “garage” originates from the French word garer, meaning “shelter”. It is where means of transport “rest” and are taken care of.  Modern cities – far and away too much car-centred – shut us into isolated little boxes breaking any direct relationship with the surrounding urban environment. Space and time for travels are limited by limited traffic zones, one-way streets, congestions and many other restrictions. The garage of the future, on the contrary, will only shelter bioenergy vehicles, such as bicycles or nordic walking poles. We will become flâneurs again, urban explorers who need to walk in order to think, stay fit and get in touch with the environment. Throughout the process of exploration, the garage represents the starting and the arrival point of this "urban wandering".
