Design Variations 2021 by MoscaPartners
Design Variations 2021 by MoscaPartners: an international hub that promotes design culture by selecting subjects that focus on research and innovation.
For this year’s Milano Design Week MoscaPartners presents Design Variations 2021 at Palazzo Litta (4-10 September). During this, its 8th edition, the Palazzo will be brought to life by the products and projects of all the companies, designers, institutions, start ups and design schools taking part in this year’s exhibition. The event offers its participants an exceptional stage for presenting their research, concepts and work to an international public of professionals and design enthusiasts.
MoscaPartners has invited the Portughese studio Aires Mateus to reinterpret the Main Courtyard of Palazzo Litta with the installation A Beach in the Baroque. The project underlines both the need for a renewed state of cohesion and the need to simply have some fun through the playful juxtaposition of the installation with the surroundings such as the obviously temporary pop-up nature of the site-specific work in contrast with the permanence of the Courtyard and the palazzo, the visual levity of the exhibit in contrast with the cultural formality of the location, the bright colours in contrast with the sobriety of the architectural materials in a culturally significant metaphysical vision that characterizes this particular moment in time for the world and for Milano Design Week.
The central element of the installation is an “oversized” cabin. This fully customized and fitted out Supercabin will be produced by a consortium of partners: Canducci Group srl, Soltech srl and DiegoFabbri Outdoor Solutions. After the presentation of the cabin at Palazzo Litta, the consortium intends to make it become a veritable icon of the most beautiful beaches in the world. The Supercabin will be installed on a platform with adjustable supports supplied by Eterno Ivica.
Just some of the Italian and International participants include: Mircea Anghel (Portugal), Emmanuel Babled (Portugal), Casarialto Atelier (Italy), East China Normal University (China), Edelgrund (Germany), fangoRosa (Italy), Foris L’Origine delle Idee (Italy), Dejana Kabiljo (Austria), Korea Craft and Design Foundation (South Korea), Orografie (Italy), Politecnico di Milano (Italy), Rubinacci Napoli (Italy), Scapin Collezioni (Italy), Supermama (Singapore), Tensoforma (Italy) and Wogg (Switzerland).
To guarantee access to Design Variations 2021 even from afar, and to give even more insight into the work on show, the physical exhibition will also have a digital counterpart: the Design Variations 2021 virtual tour which will be online on moscapartners.it from 4th September 2021 and will be accessible to everyone.
