Giardino, Città

"Garden, City" Care, inclusion, renaturalization In the Pippa Bacca Garden, in Brera, Milan, conceived by Lorenzo Castellini and artistically directed by Gianmaria Sforza - Fuorisalone, April 14th/21st, 2024.

"Garden, City" - conceived by Lorenzo Castellini and Gianmaria Sforza - is a project aimed at creating a unique system between the Casa degli Artisti, directed by five cultural associations, and the large garden it overlooks, sharing the mission of promoting the work, research, training, and production of artists in various disciplines. With the intention of opening up this small hidden oasis - the Pippa Bacca Garden - to the neighborhood and the city, to care for it together, through a grassroots process.

Lorenzo Castellini - founder of Future Fond and Partner of Casa degli Artisti - returns, after a long experience outdoors, to the themes of public space and the city, alongside the concept of Degustazione Ristoro Dispensa - the "kitchen" of Casa - with a new project focusing on urban regeneration and conviviality aimed at regenerating over time the Pippa Bacca Garden, a hidden gem of biodiversity nestled among the buildings in the center of Milan.

The garden - managed by WWF Lombardia - is kept open with the generous efforts of Green City Italia, and this new course continues the work by triggering new synergies, reopening a direct passage between Casa degli Artisti and Pippa Bacca Garden, with the intention of taking joint responsibility for it and caring for it, to daily guard it by opening it to all citizens.

Lorenzo Castellini called upon Gianmaria Sforza - architect and designer - to join him in this ambitious project aimed at reaching the roof of Casa degli Artisti, to create a collective garden and produce edible plants and flowers to be used in the kitchen of the ground floor bistro. An ideal extension of the small flower beds that line the long canopy and welcome visitors in a small nursery atmosphere.

The project stems from this need for CARE, from the desire to oversee this oasis of diversity and beauty, from proximity, starting with the first cleaning and maintenance work, in anticipation of the Salone del Mobile week, under the artistic direction of the renowned landscape designer and illustrator Marianna Merisi and the skilled hands of gardener Elisabetta Cavigioli, residents in the neighborhood, who will also plant new flowers and plants.
