Green paths and use of wood from well managed forests; a competition that rewards virtuous companies in Italian furniture sector and a series of talks on furniture, design and the use of sustainable raw materials.
The Forest Stewardship Council® (FSC®) Italy participates to Milan Design Week and Fuorisalone Digital events with its contribution to the debate on (ours, environmental’s and italian furniture’s) future, through a series of initiatives to promote green development as a key to improving innovation, competitiveness and positive environmental impacts. A revolution already underway, which recent events have made even more necessary: more than 500 companies in the Italian furniture sector have chosen FSC certification as a tool to guarantee the origin of wood, ensure virtuous and transparent supply chains and communicate positive impacts on forests and people.
For over 25 years, FSC has been working to defend the world's forests, through an environmentally friendly, socially beneficial and economically sustainable management; to date, it is the most credible and widespread certification scheme for raw materials such as wood and paper in the world, with over 214 million hectares of certified forests and 44,000 active certificates in various supply chains.
Among the initiatives conceived by FSC Italy for this edition of the Fuorisalone, the presentation of the new FSC Italia Furniture Award https://it.fsc.org/it-it/progetti/fsc-italia-award-furniture, competition now in its second edition which recognizes the commitment of companies operating in indoor and outdoor furniture sectors using FSC-certified wood. 9 are the prizes to be awarded (Living and accommodation, Sleeping area, Bathroom furniture, Kitchen, Office, Shops and Premises, Community, Furniture for private homes, Public areas such as squares, parks and gardens and Hotels / public places), plus 5 special mentions (CSR, Communication, FSC Labeling, Chain of Custody Furniture Supply Chain and Small Businesses). Among the winners of the past edition companies like Arper, Calligaris, Composad, Dorsal, Foppapedretti, Mattiazzi, Media Profili and Snaidero.
A special episode of the FSC Sustainability Talks series, aimed at companies, designers, consultants and the business world, will be broadcasted from Fuorisalone’s platform featuring speakers form Arper, Paolo Castelli and ADI - Associazione per il Disegno Industriale.
From September 28th to October 10th, promotional materials and brochures will be distributed in the showrooms of FSC-certified companies in Milan to draw attention to the origin of wood in our everyday life products, giving preference to FSC-certified products and virtuous furniture company engaged in this path.
