Event 2023

Arts&Crafts&Design

The event belongs to
5VIE DESIGN WEEK 2023

Doppia Firma is a project by the Michelangelo Foundation and Fondazione Cologni dei Mestieri d’Arte, in collaboration with Living, that promotes the union between design innovation and traditional craftsmanship. The 2023 edition of Doppia Firma will focus on the theme of playfulness, encouraging designers and master artisans to create works that express their vision through humor, irony, allusion, and more. The resulting objects will be showcased at Palazzo Litta in Milan and made using materials such as ceramics, metal, mirror, wood, and paper. The exhibition will coincide with the Salone del Mobile 2023, and visitors will be welcomed by a site-specific work by Milanese master Gianluca Pacchioni.

The project aims to create a fusion of contemporary design and authentic expressions of traditional know-how from different continents, including Europe, Asia, and Latin America. Through a reciprocal fertilization between culture and craftsmanship, the resulting objects are true narrative icons that reflect the power and intensity of creative action. The exhibition at Palazzo Litta will showcase works made by designers and master artisans who have transgressed the traditional boundaries of their respective crafts to create playful and innovative objects.

It will be possible to visit 5 exhibitions dedicated to the dialogue between know-how and design thinking.

  1. The artist and master Gianluca Pacchioni puts his talent in relation to the spaces of the Richini courtyard, to propose Time, a site-specific sculpture on the theme of Time that enhances the chromaticity of a magnificent stone.

  2. Designer Sara Ricciardi signs La Grande Bellezza, by Starhotels, in Sala Esedra: artisanal manufacturing and poetic design to crown the project of patronage of Italian high craftsmanship promoted by Starhotels, with the collaboration of Fondazione Cologni, OMA-Observatory of Artistic Crafts and Gruppo Editoriale.

  3. Michelangelo Foundation, Fondazione Cologni, and Living Corriere della Sera propose the seventh edition of "Doppia Firma" at the ducal apartment (on the first floor): 24 pairs of artisans and designers from all over the world, expressing the value of creative dialogue. Two pairs are part of the "Artijanus / Artijanas" project, developed under the curatorship of Triennale Milano.

  4. Bonacina 1889 presents, in the rooms adjacent to the gallery on the first floor, the new Francis Sultana x Bonacina collection, furnishings in woven natural fibers, created in collaboration with London-based designer and decorator Francis Sultana.

  5. Creative Academy, the international design school of the Richemont group, under the curatorship of Eligo Studio proposes Zodiac, a tribute to the "constellations", thanks to the works born from the collaboration between the 20 students and the master ceramist from Lodi, Tonino Negri (also on the first floor).
