From sustainability to circularity

From sustainability to circularity

We drive Decarbonization towards a certified circular economy for a sustainable building future

Aluminum, unlike other materials, can be completely recycled.

In the world, there are 200 million tons of aluminum, ready to be reused at the end of their life cycle.

The main objective is to reduce the exploitation of natural resources.

This process, known as "urban mining", aims to transform cities into major raw material supply centers.

Hydro, the company that owns the Domal brand, embraces this vision, replacing the extraction of bauxite with the reuse of aluminum objects at the end of their life cycle.

The preservation of resources and the reduction of environmental impact are in fact fundamental values that guide Hydro's strategy. From taking a hard look at the supply chain to taking a holistic approach to eco-design, the company is committed at every level. The responsible use of resources, the use of renewable energy and the recycling of raw materials are just some of the pillars that support Hydro's constant commitment to a sustainable future.

All the latest Domal products are therefore made in Hydro CIRCAL: post-consumer recycled aluminum with an exceptional carbon footprint among the lowest in the world (from a minimum of 0.5 to a maximum of 1.9 kg CO2 per kg of aluminum produced).

Hydro CIRCAL 75R is an alloy composed of a minimum of 75% post-consumer recycled content that boasts one of the lowest C02 footprint values in the world: 1.9 kg CO2e/kg Al, compared to 8.6 kg of European average.

In addition to Hydro CIRCAL 75R, on specific projects, Hydro CIRCAL 100R is also available, an aluminum made 100% from post-consumer waste, with a further reduction in the environmental footprint: 0.5 kg of CO2e/kg Al.

This allows the production of aluminum profiles for doors, windows and facades with a virtually zero carbon footprint.
