Materia 2.0 opens Italy's largest material encyclopaedia

Materia 2.0 opens Italy's largest material encyclopaedia

On the occasion of the Milan Design Week 2025, in the heart of Porta Nuova, Materia 2.0 inaugurates the most complete Italian material encyclopaedia: a meticulous collection of materials and products (with a systemic and global approach), a tool for study and design, to support universities and professionals, who will finally have the opportunity to define the skin of their projects in a short time and within a single place, at the same time an archive and a laboratory.

In a 500 square meter interdisciplinary hub, in the spirit of the theme Connected Worlds, Materia 2.0 makes tangible the network that unites innovation and tradition: industrial excellence and Italian craftsmanship dialogue to shape the future of design, between advanced research, sustainability and valorization of the material heritage.

Visitors will be enchanted by a scenographic thirty-meter-long gallery that holds 1’200 samples, classified by materials, next to a series of rooms with unconventional layouts and archive spaces that collect a total of about 5’000 pieces, representing over 15’000 catalogue products. A true temple of design where inspiration and research come together to guarantee a total, immersive and revolutionary design experience.
