PORTRAIT / The Beauty of Instinct
For a long time, humans have taken pride in their exceptional intelligence, believing themselves to be distinct from other animals. However, recent research on animals and plants has revealed that they, too, possess advanced intelligence, keen senses, and remarkable adaptability to their environments. The exquisite forms of animals and plants may, in fact, be the result of instinct-driven evolution—refined over time to ensure survival. Yet, in the modern world, we humans have become dependent on systems for adaptation, entrusting our intelligence and senses to AI, and even seeking to supplement "beauty" with designed objects. What was once a symbol of progress—technology and design—has, over time, distanced us from nature, making not only our vitality but also our very sense of self increasingly ambiguous. By turning our gaze back to instinct and rediscovering the beauty of the living beings within us, we may find a path to reconnect with our essence. We hope this exhibition serves as a starting point for that journey.
