BASE Milano at Design Week 2025 - WE WILL DESIGN: Making Kin
WE WILL DESIGN - Making Kin is the topic of the 2025 edition
BASE Milano is gearing up for Design Week 2025 with the fifth edition of We Will Design, a major platform dedicated to emerging design talents, featuring speculative installations and collaborative practices.
From April 7 to 13, 2025, projects by designers, performers, schools, universities, and international institutions will offer an innovative perspective on the theme Making Kin. Inspired by Donna Haraway’s philosophy, this concept explores new forms of kinship beyond speciesist and anthropocentric boundaries.
The 2025 edition of We Will Design aims to go beyond traditional notions of family ties, exploring new forms of connection and care between humans, non-humans, and more-than-humans. It is an invitation to build alliances based on conscious choices, affinities, shared interests, and common sensitivities—transforming kinship into an act of creative resistance.
With We Will Design – Making Kin, BASE reaffirms itself as a unique hub for experimentation and research, bringing the best in architectural and design innovation to Fuorisalone, thanks to collaborations with national and international universities and academies.
Temporary Home
The rooms at casaBASE will also host Temporary Home, with five residencies dedicated to international designers. This open studio explores the concept of belonging, citizenship, and interconnection between different species, allowing designers to open the doors of their research processes to the public.
Exhibit
A place of research and experimentation on democratic and plural design: Exhibit is the great exhibition of We Will Design which collects the works of academies, universities, design studios, emerging designers, and presents the unprecedented restitution of residency processes.
The Camp
The Camp returns for its second edition, the urban camping experience created in 2024 in collaboration with design agency Parasite 2.0, as a collective experiment in coexistence and cohabitation. This year, the project joins forces for the first time in a cultural partnership with the European Institute of Design to create The Glitch Camp by IED.
Another Week
In the Grand Hall of BASE Matilde Cassani presents Another Week, an installation that counterbalances the frenzy of the Milanese week, activated by performer and artist Martina Rota with With All My Strength, an investigation through the body and choreographic composition of the practice, widespread among bodybuilders, of posing.
