Horsepower became watts.   firefly, NIO’s high-end small electric car brand, honours this culture of makers with the firefly glow rod garage — an immersive installation exploring how tradition evolves in the age of electric mobility. The EV is presented within the familiar setting of a traditional garage — reshaped into a contemporary space, distilled to its essence as the origin of individuality.   Through light, sound, material, and scent, the installation traces this shift — from the raw pulse of fire to the continuous surge of electric current. Visitors move through a spatial narrative where past and present converge: where chrome gives way to fluorescence, and memory is set in motion.   At its centre stands the firefly glow rod — carrying forward the spirit of early builder communities. Personally designed by Kris Tomasson, Senior Vice President of Design at NIO and firefly. Not nostalgia, but continuation.
