Project 2026

Milano Kids Design Week 2026

Theme 2026: Asking "why?"

MILANO KIDS DESIGN WEEK is a digital platform and palimpsest of events and meetings spread throughout the city before, during and after April's Design Week to signal the industry's most qualified and innovative experiences.

The historic, global Milan Design Week generates a focus on Kids & Design. At the center, the service-product system revolving around children and all caregivers.

We think:

Better experiences in childhood create better adults.
Better adults will create better worlds.

MKDW will take place in Milan between April 20 and 26, with the theme "Asking why?".

Asking why?

The question “why” is a pivotal moment in a child’s development: a way to explore, discover, and understand the relationships between themselves, others, and the world around us.

This theme was created specifically to stimulate curiosity, critical thinking, and creativity in children’s choices, just as designers do!

Why? Why? Why? The most important question in design and in life, before any action is taken.

Laboratori del Perché!

Milan Kids Design Week returns in 2026 with new “Why?” Workshops!

Thursday, April 23, 4:00 p.m. – Why... 3D printing?
Punto Luce Gallaratese, Via Ugo Ojetti 20
EVENT NOT OPEN TO THE PUBLIC!

The final afternoon of the program led by the educators of EQUA Cooperativa Sociale, a partner of Save the Children at PL Gallaratese, concludes with a shared event.
The program, designed in collaboration with The Playful Living, focused on creating the Guardians who protect our imaginary worlds, conceived by the boys and girls of Save the Children’s Punto Luce Gallaratese.
The event wraps up the program with a shared exploration of the principles of 3D printing, some tips to simplify modeling, and potential future opportunities arising from this workshop experience for young designers.

Sunday, April 26, 4:00 PM - “Why?” Workshop on CHINESE ZODIAC SIGNS!
Chinese Cultural Center, Via Paolo Sarpi 26

A “Why?” workshop open to the public on the Chinese Zodiac Sign of the Horse, to which the year 2026 is dedicated!
During the workshop, we’ll learn why the character has this shape and create micro-artworks related to it, to be displayed as a collective piece or taken home.
A creative moment of exploration and cultural exchange.
The workshop is open to the public, and you can drop in to participate throughout the afternoon.
We look forward to seeing you!
