Designer Martin Tamke
Martin Tamke is Associate Professor at the Centre for Information Technology and Architecture (CITA) in Copenhagen. He is pursuing a design led research in the interface and implications of computational design and its materialization. His material focus has been on fibrous bio-based materials for timber and textile structures. He works with and through prototypes and installations, that have been exhibited at the Venice Biennale, ZKM-Karlsruhe, Aedes gallery and other venues. An overarching them in his work is the use of material and computational strategies for the transformation of the building industry towards sustainable and circular practices based on bio-materials. In 2019 Martin was appointed General reporter for the scientific track of the UIA2023 Copenhagen World Congress of Architects, which asked how the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) can become integral part of architectural practice. Currently he is PI in the the ERC project " Eco-Metabolistic Architecture" and is leading the EIC-project “RAW - Computation For A New Age Of Resource Aware Architecture: Waste-Sourced And Fast-Growing Bio-Based Materials”, which investigates material flows that allow low quality circular materials to form high quality building elements.
