Brands arflex

Arflex is an internationally well-known Italian company, aimed at creating products of high aesthetic level, based on a deep and constant cultural experimentation, managing to position itself as excellence of Made in Italy in the field of modern furniture, while maintaining the culture of craftsmanship know-how.

In 1947 a group of technicians, Aldo Bai, Pio Reggiani and Carlo Barassi, coming from Pirelli, founded the company. They had the intuition to experiment the use of foam rubber and elastic tapes for the furniture market. This innovation, introduced by arflex, will lead to an epoch-making change in the entire furniture market, transforming the production system of upholstered furniture from artisan to industrial.

The innovative spirit has always been the philosophy that characterizes the products of arflex, that collaborates with the best international architects of the caliber of: Cini Boeri, Franco Albini, Erberto Carboni, Carlo Bartoli, Joe Colombo, B.B.P.R., Tito Agnoli, Mario Marenco ,Erberto Carboni, Marcello Cuneo, Roberto Menghi, Luca Meda, Michele De Lucchi, Oscar Tusquets, Burkhard Vogtherr, Isao Hosoe, Studio Cerri, Studio Sottsass, Hannes Wettstein, Prospero Rasulo, Carlo Colombo, Christophe Pillet, Vincent Van Duysen, Jaime Hayon, Studio Asai, Claesson Koivisto Rune, Luca Nichetto, Mario Ruiz, Jean Nouvel, Neri&Hu, Jean Nouvel

These collaborations lead to arflex the possibility of receiveing numerous awards, such as : Compasso d'oro , five Medaglia d'Oro Triennale, an International Design Award Chicago, an awards Premio all'immagine Emu 1995, an International Design Award Genoa, three Premio design Awards Wallpaper.

There are also some models exhibited in museums all over the world : two at MoMa in New York, one at the permanent collection at The Chicago Athenaeum, eight at Triennale in Milan, two at Triennale in Tokyo and twelve pieces at the Museo dell'arredo contemporaneo in Ravenna.
