Event 2022

Animal Factory

Animal Factory consists of minimally designed metal animals drawn in a simple and abstract way, each preserving the exact size and proportions of the real animals. It plays with the contrast between nature and factories, a bridge between fantasy and reality, natural and industrial, a playground for children, a place to hang out for grown ups, a strong link between people and animals.
Animal factory is going to be an iconic sign into the city centers or parks of our cities, a flock of steel creatures, colorful and playful, remembering us the importance of respecting more our planet and getting closer to nature.

The objects – a giraffe, gorilla, crocodile and wolf – are made of metal tubing and characterized by a minimal use of color: each one is painted in a single shade, encouraging passers-by to open their minds and let their imaginations run wild.
While from a certain angle the steel construction does not seem to have a specific shape, from another place the contours of a gorilla are clearly visible. In this way the animals form surprises in any city landscape. This approach is a core intention of my work. I’m always interested and seacking to simplify shapes and lines, with the idea of taking away everything extra, a constant work of subtraction.

The structures of the different animals can represent a gigantic playground for children, an alternative tool for work-out, a peculiar place to hang out, or even a bike rack. Due to the simplistic design and construction process, more animals can be imagined to join the herd. The work invite you to sit on or climb up the structures and play with it.
