Acqua Lambro is an art-design-ecology project built around an ‘impossible idea’: transforming the water from one of Europe’s most polluted rivers into a prestigeous mineral water. Part speculative design, part situationist prank, part environmental activism, it consists of a machine-sculpture made with materials recovered from the river - with the support of AIPO (Agenzia Interregionale per il fiume Po) - which uses filtration and evaporation to transform the river water into an ‘impossible’ mineral water. This water will be presented in limited edition glass bottles - made in collaboration with the glass blower Carlo Cereda - with the support of the Department of Materials Technology of the University of West Bohemia, Czech Republic. This imaginary product will then be “marketed” along the Lambro River through a fake advertising campaign.

In collaboration with the Politecnico University of Milan, ERSAF (the Regional Agency for Services to Agriculture and Forestry), Karakorum Impresa Sociale, international researchers working in the fields of ecology, philosophy, architecture and hydrology - as well as local groups active in the protection of the river and its multiple meanings - Acqua Lambro is the fruit of a shared creation that sees the two Irish artists gethan&myles in the foreground, and the involvement of Italian and European actors around the wider European project PALIMPSEST. This initiative alings with the European strategy of the New European Bauhaus and experiments in three pilot cases (Jerez de la Frontera, Lodz, Milan) how art can support a change of approach and transversal vision to environmental challenges.

On the occasion of the Fuorisalone 2025, the ACQUA LAMBRO project will collaborate with the Milan-based contemporary dance company LostMovement.
