SYNAESTHESIA

multisensory connections and  projections of the self

Nook Milano springs from the encounter between a well-established artisanal expertise and the desire to design and create environments capable of engaging the senses and honoring the memory of each place, celebrating the story of every space and the people who inhabit it. Our approach is driven by the wish to craft interiors that encourage individuals to recognize themselves and grasp the deeper essence of dwelling, highlighting the traces arising from contact with materials, light, sounds, and scents.

In keeping with this philosophy, we present the installation “SYNAESTHESIA– multisensory connections and  projections of the self” on the occasion of the official opening of our new headquarters at Via della Moscova 15—conceived as a meeting ground for artisanal craftsmanship, design, technology, and project culture.

The installation unfolds through a series of suspended volumes, each devoted to a specific sensory realm or to the synesthetic fusion of multiple senses. Within this luminous landscape, a focal point invites visitors to look upwards and engage with a reflective element that reveals their presence as an essential part of the artwork. It is in that reflection that the key aspect of the entire installation—and of Nook Milano’s philosophy—comes to life: the individual does not merely observe from the outside, but instead discovers themselves as the protagonist of the space, experiencing a project completed only through the mutual exchange between environment and human presence.

Thus, “SYNAESTHESIA– multisensory connections and self-projections” stands as an invitation to a deeper awareness of how we inhabit our surroundings, reminding us that every environment is made of invisible connections, emotional traces, and subtle stimuli that influence our well-being and daily perception. An attentive, tangible, and mindful design approach.
