Velvet Studio returns to Milan for Fuorisalone 2025 with LEGA-MI, a project that is much more than an installation: it is a collective experience blending design, sound culture, and conviviality in a spatial and relational narrative, hosted in the evocative environments of DaOrient, just a few steps from the beating heart of the Brera Design District. DaOrient, the Milan headquarters of the brand and concept bar, which already in its hybrid identity merges Asian cuisine and Western aesthetics, becomes the stage for a site-specific setup that perfectly reflects this year's theme, “Connected Worlds.” Velvet Studio interprets the concept of connection authentically: designing spaces that connect people, languages, and sensibilities. A project that stems from the territory: LEGA-MI is also LEGA-TO: a symbolic bridge between Turin – where Velvet and FIDIVI have their roots – and Milan. The project involves production excellences from the Piedmont region in a virtuous system of collaborations that unite craftsmanship, vision, and innovation. It is a way of emphasizing that design is not only form but a relationship that binds people, territories, and ideas together.

THE SETUP:

New seating for new rituals
During the week from April 7th to 13th, DaOrient will transform to welcome the new seating from the MUTA collection, designed by Velvet Studio – with a musical evening scheduled for April 10th, an unmissable event in the Fuorisalone agenda. It is called LEGATO, a reinterpretation of the historic SD: a pouf with a sculptural language, designed for indoor use, made with FIDIVI fabrics. Completing the story, a series of padded stools designed for the outdoors. The furniture will not be simple objects to observe but living elements within the space: activators of dialogue, tools for relationships, true social devices. A design gesture that places conviviality at the center as a form of architecture. The FIDIVI fabrics selected for the setup combine top technical performance – flame-resistant, water-repellent, and ideal for contract use – with a surprising sensory and tactile quality. The enveloping textures, vibrant colors, and versatility of the materials turn every upholstery into an active element of the project, consistent with the idea of design capable of connecting aesthetics, function, and identity.

LISTENING BAR:

Sound becomes space
Among the most original novelties of this edition is the Listening Bar: an area designed for active listening, where music and design merge into a new sensory experience. A concept inspired by Japanese sound bars, where the music selection becomes an integral part of the spatial identity. Here, sound is a design material: it creates atmosphere, shapes perceptions, and guides interaction between people. The bar will offer tailor-made drinks and a selection of craft beers from the partner Baladin, in a perfect blend of gastronomic research and sound culture.
