Composing

For a new design substance made of balance and materiality

“Composing is the third chapter of a journey that does not seek and has never sought effect, but substance: proportions, balance, materiality.”

With these words, Federico Peri — Artistic Direction of Carpanese Home since 2020 — introduces the brand’s new collection, which will be presented during Milan Design Week 2026 within the vibrant setting of the Brera Design District.

Following “Rising” and “Unfolding”, the collections introduced in 2024 and 2025 respectively, Carpanese Home chooses a word, more precisely, an action — composing — to describe the trajectory of a creative journey defined by the simplification of forms, the evolution in the use of materials and the refinement of a distinctive stylistic language, culminating in the recomposition of these elements into a harmonious and carefully balanced whole.

A “new substance”, as Federico Peri describes it, that dares to work with colours and fabrics drawn from the recent past, rich and modern at the same time.

In its own way, it is a bold collection that also marks the arrival at Carpanese of two new designers, Cristina Celestino and Sebastian Herkner, both naturally at ease with timeless projects.

It is therefore no coincidence that Cristina Celestino reinterprets the classic wooden dining table to create a new space for conviviality, where macro gestures transform decoration into a structural element, while Sebastian Herkner chooses the power of detail to disrupt the aesthetics of linearity in armchairs, modular sofas and unexpected pouf/coffee tables.

In the same way, Giorgio Bonaguro, Simone Bonanni and Matteo Zorzenoni — already established designers for Carpanese Home — further develop the research initiated with previous product families, introducing a new generation of desks, side tables, consoles and seating defined by new materials and new finishes.

This includes ceramic for naturally irregular surfaces and tabletops, metal used as a defining accessory sign, and new wood colours designed to enhance — never conceal — the natural texture of the veneers.

The grafting concept, already present in past collections, returns in "Composing" as an artisanal morphosis for furniture with organic shapes: sculptural presences that interact with light and architecture.

The light and architectures of the Archivio dell’Ospedale Maggiore, Policlinico di Milano and Villa Borsani provide the backdrop to the images of the new catalogue-volume, introduced by a text by Laura May Todd and accompanied by the words of Federico Peri. The publication is built around photographs by Silvia Rivoltella and graphic design by Designwork, with overall creative coordination by AtemporaryStudio.

At MDW26, Carpanese Home's temporary showroom will host a selection of lamps by Astep, the design lighting brand founded by Alessandro Sarfatti, a surname synonymous with vision and innovation in the world of lighting design. Today, Astep continues its research work in the footsteps of the family's design culture and two great entrepreneurs: Riccardo Sarfatti and Gino Sarfatti.

In addition, the mezzanine floor of Carpanese Home's temporary showroom will host the DESOO Lounge, a curated space dedicated to the new global platform for ready-to-ship design. An ambitious project ready to revolutionize the ways and times of design, in two words: DEsign SOOn!
