Brands Ingo Maurer

A world-renowned brand for almost 60 years, Ingo Maurer offers a diverse range of decorative lighting, stunning one-off pieces, and inspiring, unique lighting installations. From the first drawing to delivery: Ingo Maurer is one of the few companies where design development and production are under one roof. All products are designed and developed in their own manufactory in Munich, Germany. Most of the luminaires are completely handmade and produced with artisanal processes. In addition, the company deals with the development and planning of overall concepts for international lighting projects.

Influencing the history of lighting design

Ingo Maurer has influenced the history of lighting design since 1966, when the company's founder and namesake designed the Bulb, a table lamp that promptly became part of the MoMA collection. Poetry, humour & technology: The company surprises with eccentric ideas, approaches, and materials as well as new technology. Among the most famous designs are the low-voltage halogen system YaYaHo (1984), the paper lamps like Floatation (1980) and the winged light bulb Lucellino (1992).

In recent years, the Ingo Maurer team has also released new luminaires in series, such as  the golden wall lamp 24 Karat Blau Flat (2020), the app-controlled luminaire MOODMOON (2020), the playful pic-a-stic lamp (2023), or the delicate egg lamp Reality (2024).

Special objects and design projects

The project department is divided into the two areas of customised special objects (e.g., Golden Ribbon and Porca Miseria!) and lighting systems for objects and premises in public spaces. The Munich-based company offers products and lighting options for many different applications in various sectors, such as hospitality, residential, retail, public sector and more. Thanks to its own manufacture, architectural model development and in-house production, Ingo Maurer can act quickly in the development and modification of projects, hand in hand with lighting and luminaire designers, developers and (interior) architects as well as customers plus project partners.

The lighting design and parts of the interior architecture of the Radisson Collection Hotel in Tsinandali, Georgia (2018), the light installation Torre Velasca Blu in Milan (2019), the Silver Cloud for the Munich Residence Theatre (2019), the design of the Crystal Snowflake in New York (2004-today), the atrium of the Lafayette Maison department stores' in Paris (2004) and the lighting of the Karlsruhe city railway stations (2021) are just a few highlights on the long list of commissioned works and spectacular individual pieces for private clients and public buildings.
