Founded in 1295 on the island of Murano, Barovier&Toso is the oldest and most prestigious glassworks still in operation in the world. Its catalog includes chandeliers, suspension lamps, wall lights, table lamps, and decorative objects in Venetian Crystal, all crafted by Murano’s master glassmakers and in collaboration with highly skilled artisans from the Veneto region. Over the years, the company has collaborated with leading Italian and international designers, including García Cumini, Marcel Wanders, Marc Sadler, Philippe Nigro, Roberto Lazzeroni, and Brian Rasmussen, who have reinterpreted the Murano heritage, contributing to collections that highlight its versatility and timeless beauty. A true “atelier of light,” every project is born from the meeting of art, technique, and vision, where seven centuries of artisanal excellence coexist with a drive toward ever-new expressive forms. Since May 2025, the company’s artistic direction has been entrusted to Luca Nichetto, a Murano-born designer recognized internationally. His appointment marks a historic moment for Barovier&Toso and is part of a strategic renewal aimed at further strengthening the brand’s global positioning, consolidating its identity in the name of excellence, design coherence, and a renewed dialogue with the present, while honoring over seven centuries of glassmaking heritage.
