Brands Rafael Lanfranco

Lanfranco’s work revolves around the creation of characters that embody psychological, mythological, and archetypal narratives emblematic of their time, as well as his own inner psychological processes. In the case of El Imaquinario de Yute y Tocuyo, for example, the story serves as a metaphor for the long odyssey undertaken by the artist to find a place in the world. His characters constantly ask themselves, “Why am I here?”, “What is my purpose?”, and “What should I do?”

On the other hand, in the WAKOS universe, this same existential reflection shifts outward to the external world—the environment in which the artist lives, his native Peru, treated as a microcosm of the world—in order to question its place as a country, as a collective, and as a society.
