Designers Weijen Chen

Weijen Chen is a Taipei, Taiwan-born designer and researcher specializing in Human-Food Interaction (HFI), a subfield of Human-Computer Interaction (HCI). With a background in food design and visual communication, her work explores how technology can enhance taste perception, dining emotions, and the future of Food Interface Design & Experience (FIDE). She focuses on integrating technological effects into the materiality of food itself to create edible interfaces where ingredients become dynamic and responsive media, redefining culinary rituals through innovation. Currently, she is a Ph.D. candidate at the Embodied Media Lab, Keio University Graduate School of Media Design in Tokyo, while actively collaborating with TDFK Design Studio in Milan to bridge academic inquiry and design aesthetics, treating the creation of HCI artifacts with the same care and sensibility as crafting works of art.
