From 13 to 18 April 2027, the 65th edition of Salone del Mobile.Milano returns to Rho Fiera Milano. Here is a first look at what’s new

From 13 to 18 April 2027, Salone del Mobile.Milano will return to Rho Fiera Milano for its 65th edition. The first previews outline a Salone focused on strengthening the connection between industry, design and the market, building on its historic core while opening up to new clients and international geographies. One of the key highlights will be the return of Euroluce, the biennial event dedicated to the world of lighting, alongside the debut of Salone Contract and the second edition of Salone Raritas. Three different directions that reflect the same evolution: on the one hand, the strength of industry and product; on the other, a system increasingly focused on design in all its complexity, new forms of commissioning and international markets. It is within this context that Euroluce will once again explore the role of light in contemporary design, increasingly shaped by research, technology, sustainability, AI, wellbeing and the relationship with natural light. The journey that began in 2023 with The City of Lights and continued in 2025 will evolve further in 2027, combining the exhibition dimension with opportunities for research and exchange.

The Euroluce International Lighting Forum, directed by Annalisa Rosso, will also return, revisiting the concept Light for Life. Light for Spaces for its second edition: light in relation to life, wellbeing, the environment, energy and nature, but also as a tool capable of transforming architecture, atmospheres and the quality of spaces. The Forum will bring lighting designers and architects into dialogue with figures from scientific research, technology, visual arts and cinema, and will once again take place in The Forest of Space, the arena designed by Sou Fujimoto in 2025. Among the first participants announced are Speirs Major Light Architecture and Fisher Marantz Stone.

If Euroluce is one of the most anticipated returns, the major new addition for 2027 will be the debut of Salone Contract, through which the Salone will establish a structured presence in the large-scale project market. The shift is significant: from the individual product to a dimension in which furnishings, services, expertise, logistics and production capabilities must come together within complex projects spanning hospitality, workplace, retail, residential and other professional sectors. The Masterplan will be designed by Rem Koolhaas and David Gianotten/OMA, replacing the traditional sequence of stands with a structure conceived as a space for exchange and business, organised around the Dome, Podium, Project Space and B2B areas. The project will also be supported by a collaboration with PwC, focused on analysing the evolution of the Contract market and the new opportunities emerging within it.

Salone Raritas will also return following its 2026 debut, with a second edition set to be larger and more international. Curated by Annalisa Rosso, with exhibition design by Formafantasma, it will continue to explore limited editions, unique pieces, antiques and high-end creative craftsmanship, connecting them directly with interior design and with professional clients looking for elements capable of giving spaces a distinctive identity. Among the first names announced is India Mahdavi, as part of a project that increasingly blurs the boundaries between industrial production, collectible design, craftsmanship and design.

Completing the picture is SaloneSatellite, which since 1998 has connected designers under 35 with companies and the manufacturing system, while the Salone’s international reach will continue to expand through the World Tour, with stops across Europe, Asia, the Americas, the Middle East and Africa, as well as a partnership with Art Basel in Miami Beach and Hong Kong. What emerges from these first previews is a Salone that, in 2027, is seeking to broaden its scope without shifting its focus away from companies: alongside the strength of product, greater emphasis is being placed on Contract, lighting research, collectible design and, above all, the creation of new relationships
