News — 23 February 2021

Karin An Rijlaarsdam and Patricia Urquiola are the protagonists of the Danish textile company's new fabrics collection.

The Danish company Kvadrat's new products for 2021 include a line of fabrics featuring international designers such as the Dutch Karin An Rijlaarsdam and Spanish architect and designer Patricia Urquiola

Encircle and Interlace, both designed by Karin An Rijlaarsdam, respectively sculptural upholstery fabric and light curtain, explore the delicate irregularities of natural surfaces and are inspired by the crafts, traditions and landscapes of Grand-Bassam, Ivory Coast.

Relate Screen by Patricia Urquiola is a special version of the twill-woven fabric designed for wall panels, desk screens and other similar applications. The Spanish designer created both designs to revisit the concept of melange.

Sahco Beau will be presented this February. Taking inspiration from movie cartoons, French haute couture, and slow escapes or adventures, the collection of nine component fabrics plays with contrast and color, bringing it all together to create a new expressiveness. It' s at the same time delicate and strong, clear and nuanced, fluid and sculptural.

Kvadrat's news aren't over, in fact the company marks 2021 by entering the North American market independently. Kvadrat has opened its first U.S. office and showroom in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and later this year will open two new showrooms in Los Angeles and New York. Working on the projects are designers Jonathan Olivares and Erwan Bouroullec.
