Bodo Sperlein presents MENU in a historic church in the Brera Design District, transforming this unique space into a fully immersive architectural installation. As the only UK design studio curating and delivering a project of this scale across the entire design week, Sperlein conceives the venue as a unified spatial composition.
The interior and street-facing terrace are treated as a continuous setting in which furniture, lighting and kitchen systems are embedded within a purpose-designed architectural framework. A palette of cast concrete, stainless steel, glass, porcelain and textile defines the exhibition, applied to structural elements, surfaces and bespoke pieces to establish a clear and consistent material identity across indoor and outdoor areas. A sculptural outdoor kitchen in cast concrete stone acts as a central feature on the terrace, underscoring Sperlein’s architectural approach to exterior living.
Within this context, Sperlein premieres collaborations developed with international brands including Meissen, Lobmeyr, Orea, Gustav van Treeck, Garpa, Gravelli, Morath Solutions AG, and LZF, bringing furniture, lighting and kitchen design together within a single architectural statement.
MENU reflects Sperlein’s design philosophy, rooted in craftsmanship, material innovation and the dialogue between tradition and modernity. The installation demonstrates his commitment to creating enduring works that move beyond throwaway culture, advancing traditional materials and techniques into contemporary contexts while delivering timeless, conversation-led design.
