Atrio Calmo

Atrio Calmo: a place suspended between indoors and outdoors

laCividina presents ‘Atrio Calmo’, an installation born from the desire to describe a hybrid and suspended space: an environment halfway between indoor and outdoor, noble and silent, capable of welcoming without defining. The new upholstered furniture designed by Norm Architects and the new coffee table designed by Zanellato/Bortotto fit perfectly into this scenario.

Curated by the creative duo Barbieri Magalini and produced by the creative consulting agency MM Company, the project is based on a reflection on atmosphere as the primary design material. 'Atrio Calmo' takes shape as a suspended space, where experience precedes function and perceptual quality becomes the invisible structure of architecture. The reference is to Roman domus and Marrakech riads, intimate and introspective places where the atrium becomes the archetype of hospitality and a device for connecting people and furnishings.

This dimension describes a design approach consistent with laCividina's DNA: a conscious choice that prioritises perceptual quality, durability and an authentic relationship between design and people. Materials, colours and volumes combine to create a calm and sophisticated environment: the intense brown of the floor recalls the earth, the straw green introduces a natural graphic accent, while the architectural white offers a neutral surface capable of welcoming and amplifying light.

Each element contributes to a coherent narrative, in which space becomes an experience and a tool for interaction. It is in this context that laCividina's new range of upholstered furniture designed by Norm Architects emerges. A modular project - for both indoor and outdoor use - that combines formal rigour, compositional freedom and attention to materials. Nordic inspiration and minimalism translate into full but measured volumes, where nothing is superfluous and every detail contributes to authentic comfort. The generous proportions naturally accommodate the body, promoting relaxed postures and prolonged use, both in private and collective contexts. The new proposal thus becomes a true architectural element, capable of defining space and promoting relationships.
