Milan Arch Week / Talk Marathon: imagined as a sequence of stories, As strong as you can collects projects and research by young voices who show how contemporary practice is a plural horizon where fragility and weakness redefine the perspectives and boundaries of architecture. A series of short stories, often with a happy ending, where the project reconstructs meanings and bonds which in turn give meaning back to architecture. Over the course of the day, speed talks of around 30 minutes each take place, making up a varied anthology of projects.

Speakers: Gia Mussi, Tenet, Small, Linearama, Ecòl, Atelier Fanelsa, Orizzontale, Captcha, Abnormal, Carlotta Franco, Sabotage Practice;  moderates: Joseph Rigo.

Following the success of past editions, Milano Arch Week is back, the week dedicated to architecture, urban transformations and the future of cities promoted in 2017 by the Comune di Milano, Politecnico di Milano and Triennale Milano.

In continuity with the reflections launched during the last edition, dedicated to the theme of the suburbs and widely spread throughout the territory, Milano Arch Week 2024, will develop around the idea of weak architecture, of an architecture that listens to the needs and expectations of citizens, that dialogues with the territory and its inhabitants. With this in mind, Milano Arch Week 2024 is proposed as a moment of social and cultural reactivation of the city's energies in order to investigate in depth the enabling power of architecture.

The event will take place in 46 venues across the city.

The exhibition entitled “ORIGIN of SIMPLICITY. 20 Visions of Japanese Design” is a transversal overview through design and craftsmanship in order to understand the origins of the very concept of simplicity, which can be interpretated as emptiness (ku), space or silence (ma), sometimes readable as poverty (wabi) and consumption linked to use over time (sabi), and on other occasions as asymmetry, non-definition and imperfection: all concepts rooted in diverse philosophical schools of thought belonging to this culture ranging from Zen Buddhism to Shinto animist thought and almost the opposite of Western rationality.

A great portrait of Italian design and Milanese and international creativity in the 1980s and 1990s. Between 1980 and 2000, Davide Mercatali took more than 4,000 Polaroids. Portraits of friends that he archived and preserved in large ring books, the first ‘Faces Books’ in the history of creativity in Milan.
‘Polaroid Party’ is an exhibition that remembers those who made Milan and Italian design great through the memory of those who were and still are friends.
