Fuorisalone meets Meneghello Paolelli

— 13 June 2024

Q&A with Marco Paolelli and Sandro Meneghello, designers who opened their studio 18 years ago and since then have built solid relationships also and above all with the brands they collaborate with.

Meneghello Paolelli

Describe what you do:
Product designers and strategic consultants for industrial design.

Where do you live and where is your studio?
We both live in via Buenos Aires area, one on the right, the other on the left! The studio is located in the Maggiolina neighbourhood, near the Journalists' village.

What are you designing today?
Glass, wood and steel, in various forms.

Luceplan, Nui Mini

Outdoor walk or tour in a museum?
Outdoor walk.

Shopping at the local market or night supermarket?
Local market.

In your opinion, what does represent most the relationship between Milan and design?
Triennale Milano.

Bungee jumping from the Duomo or diving in the Naviglio?
Bungee jumping from the Duomo.

Your first memory related to the Fuorisalone:
The year was 2010! Presentation of the MOVE lamp designed for Nemo Cassina at the Danese showroom at the Arco della Pace. Here, in this case, we literally arrived at the last minute: as it was a ceramic wall lamp, it remained "baking" in Sandro's home oven until a few hours before the inauguration of the Fuorisalone!

What was the very first thing you designed in life?
The first object designed and produced together was a ceramic sink.

Infinito Design, Gemini

Where do you buy a special birthday gift?
Definitely at the Rinascente on the Design Center floor: an excellent container of objects with questionable contents, therefore perfect for a nice "design gift"!

The thing to never say or ask a designer:
We respond with a quote from Vico Magistretti: “Beautiful or Ugly are words that should be used rarely”.

Your masterpiece in the kitchen:
Sandro: Tiramisù.

If you could only have one drink your entire life, what would it be?
Marco: Old Fashion.
