Brands Gaggenau

Gaggenau, the luxury brand for professional-grade home appliances, owes its success to significant technological progress as well as the pure and linear design and unrivalled quality and functionality of its products. The company foundation dates back to as far as 1683. It is a brand with a solid history, characterized by a profound respect for tradition, but restless in its evolution. Over the years the brand’s products have been bestowed with numerous awards and acknowledgments, which have contributed to establishing new standards within the kitchen domain and has brought the kitchen for domestic use closer to the professional kitchen. Gaggenau has been a subsidiary of BSH Hausgeräte GmbH in Munich since 1995 and is currently represented in more than 50 countries with 25 flagship showrooms in major cities around the world.

The quality of Gaggenau appliances
The quality of Gaggenau products can be summed up in its four founding values: authenticity, professionalism, essential design and functionality. Gaggenau appliances, from ovens to cooktops are authentic and are made from using high quality and raw materials, such as stainless steel, aluminium and glass. The kitchen is one of the most important areas of a house and where we spend the most time in. This is why Gaggenau decides to furnish it with rigor, simplicity and a linear and pure design. The typical Gaggenau blue enamel found in its oven interiors has something of an ancient charm, almost a byword of the company; although it is renowned everywhere, it is barely known that the history of this enamel truly finds its roots back in the past. It dates back to the time when Gaggenau produced enamelled advertising signs, which enabled the company to develop this special and unique competence. The enamel composition, made of glass particles, oxides and chemical additives which are grounded and mixed is still to this day kept secret.

The history of Gaggenau brand
The name Gaggenau comes from a small German town on the edge of the Black Forest, where in 1683 the Margrave Ludwig Wilhelm von Baden founded the forge Gaggenau with an aim to create a new source of living for the poor farmers of the Murg valley. Here nails and hammers were produced using the iron deposits of the valley. It later became the “Eisenwerke Gaggenau A.G”, producing agricultural machinery and metal consumer goods. In the 19th century the company produced bicycles, advertising signs and stoves, and specialised in enamelling. The formula for the durable oven enamel formed the basis for the success of the coal and gas-fired stoves that were manufactured well into the 20th century.

With his vision of the fully fitted kitchen Dr. Otto von Blanquet took over Eisenwerke Gaggenau A.G. in 1931, and a new era began in 1956 with his son Georg: inspired by his passion for cooking he realised his concept of a custom-made fitted kitchen with technically perfected, user-friendly appliances. Thanks to this vision Gaggenau became the world’s first and leading brand of timelessly beautiful, innovative built-in appliances of a functional aesthetic character.
