Districts, projects, protagonists, and installations: previews of the events taking place during Design Week
Spotlights on Milan, the international capital of design. Once again this year, coinciding with the Salone del Mobile.Milano, from April 7 to 13, 2025, the Fuorisalone returns with a packed calendar of events, exhibitions, and installations spread throughout the city. "Mondi Connessi" is the theme for 2025 – interpreted by three powerful images generated with AI from the prompt designer Silvia Badalotti – aimed at promoting a culture of design that focuses on the development of new technologies and the hybridization of skills and knowledge.
Between architecture, urban space, and the city, “Portanuova Vertical Connection”, designed by the Evastomper studio, interprets “Connected Worlds” with a structure entirely made of Layher, walkable and accessible even at height. It invites visitors to embark on a physical and technological journey where AI guides the experience. Through interactive buttons and sensors, visitors can create and shape content on the video walls by selecting places, colors, and sensations, which then manifest and translate into images, sounds, and lights. From April 4 to 13, it will be possible to access this “new temporary space” by booking the experience through the Portanuova Milano app.

For the first time, a collaboration between Fuorisalone and d3-Dubai Design District is being activated: an opportunity for discussion on the economy of the creative industries and design scouting to bring Made in Italy Design to the world and d3 to the heart of Milan Design Week. The partnership with miart, the international modern and contemporary art fair in Milan, returns. Nicola Ricciardi, Artistic Director of the event, will work alongside Fuorisalone.it to create a series of thematic paths to discover and narrate Milanese galleries and institutions, aimed at both professionals and those exploring the world of art for the first time with curiosity. The collaboration with Salone del Mobile.Milano also continues to enhance exhibitors both at the fair and in the city, following a dedicated path in the event guide and the interactive map of Fuorisalone.it, with indications of the stand locations across different pavilions and the event venue in the city. The 2025 edition also marks the debut of MiTo Design Connections, a platform dedicated to hotel bookings, offering advantageous solutions to create an ideal bridge between the two cities. With only a 35-minute train ride from Milan, Turin becomes a strategic destination for attending Design Week events, positioning itself as an exclusive solution for staying during Fuorisalone.

Brera Design District returns with the professionals and brands already present in the area: 204 permanent showrooms, including 10 new openings. As every year, these are joined by investors, sponsors, and temporary exhibitors—over 170 confirmed so far—enriching the event calendar and confirming the Brera District as the place to be during Fuorisalone, with a total forecast of over 300 initiatives. A district with a multifaceted soul, it has become an international point of reference thanks to its identity, blending craftsmanship, art, culture, lifestyle, food and wine, and hospitality. The same blend of interpretations and perspectives, as well as colors, shades, materials, and graphic signs, can also be found in the “Orizzonti” project: the new installation at Brera Design Apartment (via Palermo 1), curated by the Zanellato/Bortotto studio.
The Tortona area returns with a new look and a communication strategy aimed at bringing together and telling the diverse realities that animate it: Tortona Rocks, Tortona Design Week, Superstudio, and BASE.
