Designer Camilla Vertua

Camilla Vertua (b. 1996) is a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Fellow pursuing a Dual PhD between Politecnico di Milano (Department of Architecture, Built Environment, and Construction Engineering – DABC) in Italy and KU Leuven (Department of Architecture) in Belgium. Her research is part of the Horizon 2020 ActaRebuild Training Network and focuses on the energy retrofitting of European office buildings by integrating bio-based materials for the thermal insulation of curtain walls through principles of circular economy.

Previously, she collaborated with Prof. Nebojsa Jakica and Prof. Hugo Mulder at STU Odense (Denmark) and worked first at the Danish architectural studio Arcgency and then at Superworld and Bright.coop in the Netherlands. 

Her work primarily focused on research-driven design strategies aimed at incorporating principles of circular economy in the built environment, from architectural projects to the urban scale.
