Designers Encor Studio
Encor Studio was founded in 2016 by Swiss audiovisual artists Mirko Eremita, David Houncheringer, Manuel Oberholzer and Valerio Spoletini. Their skills and sensibilities shape the unique identity of the studio and its projects. Combining technology with lo-fi materials, using self-developed tools and playing with scales, Encor Studio is on board a journey where beauty takes center stage. Underlining the symbolic value of light and sound, the artworks of the studio merge technology with the physicality of space. The way hidden information is made palpable, interwoven in our physical and social lives, offers a fresh perspective on an ever-evolving world that, like the properties of light itself, remains mostly a mystery.
Experimenting with kinetic sculptures, architecture, installations and sound visualization, often challenging their limitations, Encor Studio strongly emphasises twisting the audience's perception. Using mirrors, digital artistry, creative coding, data, water sound waves a.o., experiences are crafted where space and its physical properties take new shapes. By altering the mental states of the audience, reality is distorted, literally and metaphorically, providing a reflexive look at the human condition itself. This visceral back and forth between reality and concept creates snapshots in time, shaping dense layers that document and grant access to the exploratory journey of Encor Studio.
In its recent development, the studio focuses on a more reductionist approach, subtracting rather than adding elements, allowing the direct environment and lighting to play a larger role. Favouring in situ materials and energetic efficiency serves as a statement against homogeneity.
