BECOMING, Rimadesio’s project for its 70th anniversary

An anniversary conceived as a multi-layered, evolving narrative spanning design, art and architecture

In 2026, Rimadesio celebrates seventy years of activity with BECOMING, a multi-layered project unfolding throughout the year and interpreting the anniversary as a moment of openness and transformation. A system of initiatives that brings together design, art, architecture and communication, conveying the image of an identity shaped over time and in constant evolution. BECOMING develops as a unified narrative that connects memory and future, continuity and change, through a series of complementary actions: the evolution of the design collection by Giuseppe Bavuso, an installation project open to the public during Milan Design Week 2026, a dedicated artistic work, the construction of the new company headquarters in Giussano, and a narrative framework that links these elements into a coherent vision.

The first level of BECOMING concerns the development of the Rimadesio collection, designed by Giuseppe Bavuso, who for over thirty-five years has played a central role in a journey that has decisively contributed to defining the company’s identity. A long-standing collaboration that has shaped the product as a recognisable and integrated system, now part of the contemporary design discourse. On the occasion of Milan Design Week 2026, the flagship store on Via Visconti di Modrone in Milan, also designed and coordinated by Bavuso, will present an expansion of the collection featuring new materials, finishes, systems and accessories. An evolution that understands design as an open process, in constant dialogue with architecture and with the changing ways of contemporary living.

During Milan Design Week 2026, the core of the BECOMING project will be Palazzo Isimbardi, hosting an installation and narrative intervention open to the public for the first time. The project is conceived and realised by Juma, which for thirty years has overseen Rimadesio’s image and communication, translating the company’s values into a visual and spatial language. The exhibition path retraces seventy years of history through an experience that combines design, innovation and project culture, presenting the brand’s evolution and its vision for the future.

In the cloister of Palazzo Isimbardi, a site-specific installation by Encor Studio takes shape. The Swiss artists share with Rimadesio a research interest in light and transparency. The work invites reflection on space, time and becoming, interpreting glass as a dynamic and sensitive material. After Design Week, the installation will continue its journey through Rimadesio flagship and monobrand stores worldwide, before being relocated to the new Rimadesio Campus in Giussano as a symbol of the 70th anniversary. Inside the Sala Affreschi of Palazzo Isimbardi, a transitional space between the inner courtyard and the garden, an immersive environment is dedicated to narrating Rimadesio’s evolution. Through images, videos and sound content, the experience guides visitors through collections, technological innovation, the brand’s international development and the architectural project of the new headquarters, offering a complex yet coherent vision of the company’s identity.

BECOMING also includes the story of the new headquarters currently under construction in Giussano, designed by ACPV Architects, Antonio Citterio and Patricia Viel. The project stems from the regeneration of an existing industrial area and redefines the relationship between industry, landscape and community. With a footprint almost double that of the previous site, the complex is conceived as a true campus: production spaces, exhibition areas, and places dedicated to training, art and wellbeing coexist within a system that enhances existing structures while introducing advanced solutions for productive and energy efficiency. The landscape becomes a generative element of the project, thanks to the presence of green areas, biodiversity, permeable open spaces and continuity between interior and exterior.

With BECOMING, Rimadesio constructs a narrative that spans different languages and scales: art as a symbolic gesture, the event as a space for relationships, architecture as a long-term vision, and design as a daily practice. Seventy years thus become a vantage point from which to reread the path taken and imagine new trajectories. BECOMING tells the story of an identity that takes shape and continues to evolve over time, through projects, spaces and people.
