ABADIR: Strummule - Roberta Palazzolo

"Strummule" is the project of a family of spinning tops born from the need to promote, through play, the integration between the different generations and cultures of the world, especially the Sicilian and African ones, which today, in the wake of the growing phenomenon of migration, are increasingly in contact with each other. The return to street games represents the arrival point of research. The street, in fact, was the place where people played together and communities were generated. The aim of the project is to use the spinning top game, intended not only as an instrument of exchange and integration but also as an instrument of knowledge, to stimulate in children, but also in adults, the interest for architecture and for their city. In this regard, a family of spinning tops inspired by African and Sicilian architecture has been designed, with which children can also build small scenarios and invent new stories, the stories of a new shared culture.
