Mondi Connessi (Connected worlds) and shared experiences that define new forms of collaboration between product designers and fashion houses. New hybrids and experiments that renew the relationships between disciplines, languages, and materials.
Experimentation is a hallmark at Marsèll, and their beautiful spaces in Milan at Via Della Spiga 42 have accustomed us to discovering new crossovers between design, art, and fashion, always presenting innovative product research that never feels predictable.
After collaborations with Soft Baroque, Gonzalez Haase, and Matylda Krzykowski, the latest partnership is with Danish designer Frederik Fialin. He reimagines and presents his Calypso Light—first introduced in September 2024 during the Everyday Exquisite exhibition at Berlin Art Week—in a special version where Marsèll leather is used as a lampshade, creating an opaque effect similar to that achieved with paint.

In this version, the Calypso Light lamp reinterprets the leather of the Italian brand, transforming it into a lampshade that invites us to celebrate the tension between the ephemeral and the tangible, gently touching and caressing the softness of the material.
The softness of the leather emphasizes the material research that unites both realities. It's a process of simplification where the purity of the lines speaks to formal rigor, chasing the essential without compromising creative exploration.
For this collaboration, Marsèll and Frederik Fialin present three floor-standing Calypso Light lamps covered in leather, along with two special, larger suspended versions within the flagship store space.

As Fialin explains: "Elevating the material to eye level offers a new perspective on leather, a material common in footwear but rare in this context. This collaboration marks the first time Studio Frederik Fialin has worked with leather, making it an exciting and rewarding challenge." This is one possible interpretation of our vision of Mondi Connessi (Connected Worlds), opening the door to experiments that begin with materials and their interpretation and versatility, producing new forms of collaboration. This is the driving force behind Marsèll’s ongoing search, which goes beyond just the product, as Marco Cima, creative director and founder of the brand, states: "This project underscores the authentic connection between our brand identity and a designer whose vision aligns closely with our creations and the broader radical design movement."
The installation will be open to the public from November 28, 2024, to January 6, 2025, after which it will make room for new projects in anticipation of next year's design week, where Marsèll has consistently impressed us with site-specific installations and projects at its other Milan locations.
