From the coast to the inland valleys, Liguria transforms within just a few kilometres. The landscape changes, so do the aromas, recipes and the very way people gather around the table. From Michelin-starred restaurants to family-run trattorias and mountain refuges accessible only on foot, these are the places that tell the story of the region through its cuisine.

rezzano-vino-cucina

REZZANO CUCINA E VINO – SESTRI LEVANTE
Now in its third generation, Rezzano has just over twenty seats divided between its intimate dining room and a veranda overlooking the square and the sea. Awarded one Michelin star, the restaurant has preserved an intimate scale that allows every service to feel carefully considered. Matteo Rezzano and Jorg Giubbani create a contemporary, seasonal cuisine that is unmistakably Ligurian, shaped around the day's catch, local vegetable gardens and regional produce. The tasting menu, Liguria Lenta, expresses this philosophy with remarkable balance.

agririfugio

AGRIRIFUGIO MOLINI - LOC. MOLINI, SAN FRUTTUOSO DI CAMOGLI
Set inside a restored historic mill surrounded by Mediterranean vegetation, Agririfugio Molini can only be reached on foot. It is the perfect stop along a hike, offering breathtaking views before the descent to San Fruttuoso for a swim in the sea. This rugged, fragrant landscape shapes an honest, straightforward cuisine rooted in local traditions. Much of the produce comes directly from the property's own gardens and farm—including vegetables, olive oil, honey and herbal liqueurs—while local producers supply wine, Taggiasca olives, organic meat and craft beer. Even the bread is baked fresh every day.

CACCIA C’A BUGGE – CAMPO LIGURE
In the heart of Campo Ligure, Caccia C'a Bugge is a small family-run osteria where Ligurian and Piedmontese traditions meet naturally. Homemade pasta, mandilli al pesto, ravioli and rabbit speak of an unpretentious table deeply rooted in the recipes of the inland valleys and the rhythm of the seasons. Few tables, a warm atmosphere and a strong sense of place.

SAVŌ – LAIGUEGLIA
In Laigueglia, SAVŌ looks towards the sea without losing sight of the inland landscape. At Hotel Windsor, chef Roberto Stella crafts a contemporary seasonal cuisine centred on local seafood, Ligurian vegetables and familiar flavours interpreted with restraint and precision. Beige and sage-green interiors, together with a private beach inspired by the elegance of the 1960s, create the atmosphere of a refined Riviera holiday that still feels wonderfully timeless.

o-vittorio

Ö VITTORIO - RECCO
In Recco, Da Ö Vittorio has been preserving Ligurian culinary traditions for four generations, proving that true classics never need reinventing. The famous IGP Focaccia di Recco col Formaggio is reason enough to make the journey—thin, golden and best enjoyed straight from the oven—but there is much more to discover: trofie with pesto, green beans and potatoes, borage fritters, salt cod, rabbit and the traditional cima alla genovese. A family-run restaurant in the most reassuring sense of the word, where Liguria arrives at the table without unnecessary embellishment.

boma

BOMA – VARAZZE
Overlooking the Marina di Varazze, Boma enjoys a privileged waterfront setting. Its cuisine draws on Ligurian tradition while reinterpreting it with lightness and technical precision, following the daily catch and the rhythm of the seasons. The atmosphere is contemporary, with tables facing the water and a refined balance between elegance and ease. A destination worth noting for anyone who loves the sea, both on the plate and beyond.

raieu

RAIEÜ- CAVI DI LAVAGNA
Located in the small seaside village of Cavi di Lavagna, Raieü has been welcoming guests since 1962. Originally opened to complement the family's fishing boat, it remains a characterful trattoria with maritime-inspired interiors, where wooden furnishings, fishing nets, lanterns, ship wheels and vintage photographs evoke its seafaring heritage. Traditional Ligurian cuisine takes centre stage, with homemade pasta, hearty soups and signature dishes such as mixed grilled fish and buridda—a local cuttlefish stew prepared in the Lavagna style with seasonal vegetables.

la cava

LA CAVA - GENOVA
One of the newest additions to Genoa's historic centre, La Cava is a contemporary wine bar combining Mediterranean cuisine with subtle Spanish influences. Drop in for a glass of wine, share a selection of small plates or settle in for dinner. The menu features premium preserves, cured meats and cheeses from both Italy and Spain, alongside seafood and meat dishes. Wine remains at the heart of the project, with a carefully curated selection of small producers and distinctive wine regions. Relaxed and informal, it is a place to enjoy at your own pace.

la branca

LA BRINCA
In Ne, inland between Chiavari and Lavagna, La Brinca is one of those places well worth leaving the coast behind for. The Circella family champions an honest Ligurian cuisine deeply rooted in the Val Graveglia, drawing on wild herbs, the kitchen garden and the area's small-scale producers. Homemade pasta, house-cured meats and traditional recipes define the menu, from chestnut gnocchi with hand-pounded pesto to stuffed lettuce in broth, roasted veal and herb-stuffed rabbit. The atmosphere remains that of a warm family trattoria, while behind the scenes an impressive wine cellar of more than two thousand labels reflects a thoughtful selection of Ligurian and natural wines. Honest, generous and deeply authentic, it is the kind of place where dinner naturally slows the pace of the day.

osteria del rododendro

OSTERIA DEL RODODENDRO – MONTEGROSSO PIAN LATTE
In the heart of the Alta Valle Arroscia, in Montegrosso Pian Latte, Osteria del Rododendro is one of the landmarks of Cucina Bianca, Liguria's mountain cuisine born from pastoral traditions and seasonal transhumance. Family-run, it works with organic, locally sourced ingredients, many of them produced in the surrounding area. The menu evolves with the seasons, yet Raviore—small parcels filled with wild herbs—remain a signature, alongside woodland mushrooms, alpine cheeses and recipes that tell the story of Liguria's mountains with authenticity and quiet confidence. A table well worth the journey, far beyond the coastline.
