From May 8 to 11, Milan’s most beloved flower and plant fair returns to the Giardini Indro Montanelli for its 29th edition, celebrating urban nature, biodiversity, and sustainable beauty.
This year’s theme, “Bio, bio, bio: There is life in the garden,” highlights a vision of the garden as a living ecosystem—an essential part of the city, not just a decorative element. Orticola brings together the best in botany, landscape design, and floral creativity, offering rare plants, artisanal tools, and ideas for gardens, balconies, and small urban spaces.
The event features exhibitors from across Italy and beyond, along with ephemeral gardens, hands-on workshops, expert talks, and family-friendly activities. But the celebration doesn’t stop at the garden gates.
Running until May 18, FuoriOrticola transforms Milan into a blooming open-air museum. 36 cultural institutions, 45 boutiques, and 26 floral designers reinterpret iconic artworks through stunning floral window displays, while museums, villas, gardens, and historic landmarks host installations, guided tours, and exclusive events. This year also welcomes new partners like the Civic Aquarium, the Archaeological Museum, and prestigious hotels such as the Hotel Principe di Savoia. Among the highlights, 10 Corso Como hosts the photography exhibition “Guido Guidi. Da un’altra parte” and, from Thursday, May 8 to Sunday, May 11, launches “Bloom: The Enchantment of Biodiversity”, a rich program of talks, workshops, and screenings curated by Marie Claire Maison.
Beyond Milan, FuoriOrticola extends to the Lakes of Como and Maggiore, the Piedmont hills, and historic villas, with concerts, botanical exhibitions, and wellness experiences. Don’t miss the Vetrine Fiorite competition, where the city’s most creative floral displays compete for the public’s vote, with the winners announced on Sunday, May 11 at the fairgrounds.
