At Spazio Maiocchi, an immersive journey through design, food and togetherness
At Milan Design Week 2026, IKEA presents “Food for Thought”, an exhibition offering a fresh perspective on everyday life at home.
From April 21 to 26, at Spazio Maiocchi in the Porta Venezia District, the exhibition unfolds as an immersive journey that shows how design shapes the way we cook, eat and connect, turning everyday gestures into meaningful experiences.
At the heart of the exhibition, a multi-room installation featuring five environments brings together international designers and chefs, invited to interpret different life-at-home scenarios connected to food. Each space becomes a tangible narrative, where cultural insights are translated into environments to explore and share.
Throughout the day, live cooking sessions turn the kitchen into an active and social hub, while in the evening the venue shifts into an aperitivo setting. The experience is enriched by a courtyard market inspired by the Swedish saluhall tradition with local vendors and a live music program.
Within this narrative, product design also plays a key role: the exhibition offers a first glimpse of the upcoming IKEA PS 2026 collection, an expression of the brand’s democratic design.
At a time when the home plays an increasingly central role, IKEA presents an experience that invites a rethinking of everyday life, showing how design can help make it simpler, more inclusive and more meaningful.
