ORBITA: In Venice, the House Becomes a Curatorial Space

Entering a home while it is still being transformed means discovering it at a particular moment, when traces of its history remain visible and a new identity is beginning to take shape. This is the idea behind ORBITA, the international cultural project conceived by Etereo, the architecture and interior design studio founded by Stefania Digregorio and Mirko Sala Tenna. Its first edition will take place from 11 September to 3 October 2026 at Palazzo Ca’ Donà, a historic Venetian residence located between Ca’ Pesaro and Fondazione Prada. The palazzo is currently undergoing a major restoration led by Etereo and, before returning to its role as a private residence, will exceptionally open its doors to the public for a project bringing together architecture, contemporary art and collectible design. “The places we work with are more than architecture. They hold memories and stories, as well as the potential to create new encounters. ORBITA was conceived to give shape to this vision: an itinerant platform that moves through private residences, creates a dialogue between art and collectible design, and opens these extraordinary places to new perspectives and new audiences,” explain Stefania Digregorio and Mirko Sala Tenna.

The first edition brings together a number of names from the international art and design scene. Nilufar, with a selection curated by Nina Yashar, meets the research of Brun Fine Art in a dialogue between historic and contemporary art. They are joined by sculptures by Massimiliano Pelletti, who reinterprets the tradition of marble through a contemporary sensibility, and works by Another View, an artistic platform that transforms the experience of travel into collectible video artworks. More than an exhibition, ORBITA is conceived as a curatorial project that temporarily activates private spaces through site-specific installations, artistic collaborations and a programme of events open to the public. Each edition will take place in a different residence and city, developing its narrative in response to the historical, cultural and architectural context in which it is hosted.

At Ca’ Donà, the starting point is Venice and its history as a crossroads of cultures, trade and ideas. The exhibition unfolds as a journey through real and imagined geographies, with each room taking on its own identity, from the colours of India to the atmospheres of Africa, while artworks and collectible design engage with the historic layers of the interiors. The house is not simply a backdrop for the exhibition, but becomes part of the curatorial framework itself. Venice marks the starting point of a project designed to travel: each new edition of ORBITA will add a new place, collaborations and encounters to a growing constellation centred on the home as a space for culture, research and storytelling.
