The brand unveils a limited edition of the Jan armchair at Milan Design Week through an installation by Sara Ricciardi Studio that explores the journey from agricultural material to contemporary design
For Milan Design Week 2026, Kave Home presents a new version of the Jan armchair, one of the brand’s icons. Released as a limited edition of 45 numbered pieces, it is presented within the installation Rooms for Stories: From Seat to Seed, by Sara Ricciardi Studio.

This special edition reinterprets the iconic design of Jan through a material developed specifically for the project, in collaboration with a local supplier from the Valencia region (Spain). The upholstery features a plant-based surface incorporating persimmon, creating a finish rich in texture and depth and establishing a strong connection to its natural origins.

The dark ochre upholstery expands the collection’s colour palette and is paired with a solid ash wood frame in a dark walnut finish, reinforcing the armchair’s timeless character. Each piece is hand-upholstered in Yecla, Spain, and marked with a numbered plaque, making every armchair a singular object designed to endure over time.
Conceived as an immersive experience, the installation brings the material story of Jan into physical space. It guides visitors from the finished armchair back to the origin of its material, highlighting the transformation process and the design decisions that shape each object.

As Sara Ricciardi explains, “Rooms for Stories – From Seat to Seed is a poetic journey back to the origin, a contemporary fable that reminds us where things come from and the choices behind them. From object to material, from material to seed, it invites us to rediscover the value, responsibility and quiet beauty within the things we use every day.”

The journey unfolds through five audiovisual episodes, presented as a series, tracing how persimmon, a fruit deeply connected to the Mediterranean landscape, evolves from agricultural surplus into a design material.
Visible from the street, the installation transforms the Kave Home flagship store in Milan into an open space for the city, inviting passers-by to pause and observe.
With Rooms for Stories: From Seat to Seed, Kave Home emphasizes the emotional value of design, grounding the uniqueness of the project in material origin, limited edition, craftsmanship, and its social and environmental impact. More than presenting an object, the installation proposes design as a tool for transformation.
