A Design Vision Rooted in Nature, Craft, and Materiality
The Flamingo Estate Bathhouse by Kohler explores the creative tension that emerges from the convergence of opposing elements—nature and craft, geometric and organic, permanence and ephemerality. When this creative tension is directed in service of personal and ecological wellness, design is experienced as renewal, ritual, and transformation.
At the heart of the installation sits a monumental bathhouse, reinterpreted from a similar structure on the grounds of Flamingo Estate. The strength and solidity of the brutalist design serves as a protective shell for quiet reflection. Inside, the new Reverie™ copper-shrouded cast iron bath stands as an invitation to return to the source of our humanity and discover a deeper connection with our own nature.

The installation also recalls the essential materiality of Kohler’s origins and the symbiotic relationship of human craft and the natural environment. By harnessing the simplest elements — fire, earth, air, and water — Kohler has crafted expressions of enduring beauty and complexity for more than 153 years. Together, these elements speak to the alchemy that occurs when raw matter meets human intention, culminating in the flourishing of life.
