Following the success of its debut last year, Alcova—a traveling platform for designers, companies, institutions, and researchers—returns to Miami Art Week with a new edition. This time, it welcomes visitors to an extraordinary location: the River Inn Hotel, Miami’s oldest building, nestled amidst lush tropical vegetation. This enchanting venue hosts site-specific installations and projects that harmoniously interact with the historical and natural context, creating a microcosm where contemporary design is explored and reflections on our relationship with everyday objects are sparked.
Tradition and innovation come together within the River Inn Hotel, inviting visitors to immerse themselves in the future of design through performances, shared experiences, and a bold and experimental selection of works by visionary designers.

Among the most anticipated installations is a project by Lucas Muñoz Muñoz, who reimagines recovered urban objects, transforming them into interventions that rejuvenate the hotel’s central courtyard. Equally captivating is the work of the Los Angeles-based collective AnanasAnanas, which reinterprets the pool area with their innovative and daring language in the realm of food design.

Alcova Miami 2024 brings together over 40 exhibitors from around the world, including emerging talents such as Panorammma (Mexico), with its multidisciplinary explorations of domestic spaces; the Athens-based studio made by ASTRONAUTS, in collaboration with the brand Serapis; and the Italian collective Parasite 2.0 x bianco67, which focuses on creative reuse of marble and stone. Rounding out the lineup is New York-based conceptual designer Jirah Joshua (Room—file), among other standout names.

The event also features contributions from designers who have helped shape Alcova’s identity, such as Rich Aybar (RAWORKSHOP), Objects of Common Interest, LoopLoop, and Crafting Plastics! Studio, known for their innovative approaches to experimenting with materials and technologies.

Adding to the experience is a packed schedule of talks, round tables, and events, offering visitors additional opportunities for deep dives and discussions on topics shaping the future of design.

Dates: December 3–8, daily from 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM
