The events not to be missed at 5VIE District

From April 7 to 13, 2025, the 5VIE Design Week returns for its 12th edition, bringing authorial design, collectible pieces, high craftsmanship, and the fusion of art and design to the heart of Milan's historic center, between Corso Magenta, Sant'Ambrogio, and the Columns of San Lorenzo. The theme is "Invisible Harmonies": while beauty is often reduced to aesthetics or consumption, this edition explores design as a language of resonance—an echo of hidden balances that shape the way we inhabit the world. At the 2025 Fuorisalone, 5VIE presents an exciting innovation: in addition to the historic spaces of Palazzo Correnti (via Cesare Correnti 14) and SIAM (via Santa Marta 18), there will also be an exhibition at the Cavallerizze in via Olona 4, at the National Museum of Science and Technology Leonardo da Vinci.

Eight major collaborations with international creatives, from Misha Kahn to Sara Ricciardi, from Richard Yasmin to Hiva Alizadeh, will be showcased alongside around 70 events organized by studios, companies, and independent designers. The organization, led by Ernesta Del Cogliano and Emanuele Tessarolo, will curate a series of exhibitions signed by 5VIE, most of which will be displayed at the Cavallerizze. Here is a selection of highlights:

Abject: Inhabit the Poché di Misha Kahn (Cavallerizze, via Olona 4)
American creative Misha Kahn, known for blending craftsmanship, technology, and material improvisation, presents Abject: Inhabit the Poché. This project, with a curatorial text by Maria Cristina Didero, merges design, space, and dance. Visitors enter a draped fabric environment and witness an unexpected animated performance in which Kahn's new chairs—designed by his brand Abject—serve as both scenographic elements and performers, their shapes dancing like shadows in a continuous light flow.

Metamorphism di Julie & Jesse (Cavallerizze, via Olona 4)
Metamorphism is the exhibition curated by Annalisa Rosso, presented by 5VIE in collaboration with Julie & Jesse, a creative duo based in Hong Kong. They specialize in experimental ceramics and navigate the intersection of design, craftsmanship, and art. Featuring a pyramid-shaped installation evoking both archetypal ritualistic architectures and contemporary modular structures, the duo explores the boundaries of ceramics with a spirit of discovery, pushing beyond conventional production limits.

Other Space di Colture Project (Cavallerizze, via Olona 4)
Other Space is an environmental installation by Colture Project, featuring vases, carpets, and coffee tables created through the intersection of architecture, design, craftsmanship, and art, all handmade using Tuscan production scraps.

Prendete & Mangiate by Carolina Levi (via Cesare Correnti 14)
A pair of stoneware vases by Alice Del Ferraro explores the concept of deformation and imperfection. A table collection by Astrid Luglio demonstrates the expressive potential of folds as a generative form principle. Also featured are Yellowdot's egg holders, transformed into kinetic sculptures made from eggshells and brass.

The Chrysalis Knows The River’s Song by Sara Riccardi (Cavallerizze, via Olona 4)
Designer Sara Riccardi presents two projects. The first, an interactive installation titled The Chrysalis Knows The River’s Song, inspired by the transformation of the chrysalis, is a sound hourglass in which visitors are invited to enter. The second, Girotondo, is an exhibition featuring a series of vases created after workshops with children aged 4 to 10, exploring their vision of love. One vase even depicts a tank releasing a rainbow.

Decadenza Divina by Richard Yasmine (Cavallerizze, via Olona 4)
Lebanese architect and designer Richard Yasmine presents a collection of art de la table items, including vases, containers, and bowls with sculptural lines, made of marble by artisans. Each object has removable mother-of-pearl sculpted sticks designed to slide into the shape, blending functionality with sensuality—a shameless celebration of desire.

The Flat-Massimo Carasi Gallery for Hiva Alizadeh (via Cesare Correnti 14)
The contemporary art gallery The Flat-Massimo Carasi presents the creations of Iranian artist Hiva Alizadeh (b. 1989), who reinterprets the Persian rug tradition using synthetic hair extensions.

But it doesn’t stop there. Among the many events at SIAM - Società d’incoraggiamento d’Arti e Mestieri (via Santa Marta 18), Chendù, in collaboration with Fainplast, presents DOVE VUOI ANDARE?, an outdoor installation inspired by Alice in Wonderland, exploring philosophy, design, and new horizons through a labyrinth of marble, travertine, metal, plastic, upcycling, and high craftsmanship. At via dell’Unione 11, Bitossi Home presents Trattoria: a project that reinterprets the typical atmosphere of an Italian trattoria within the spaces of Sugo Milano. The project continues at via Santa Marta 19, where a collection of ceramics in collaboration with French designer Sandrine Alouf will be unveiled, inspired by traditional Italian dishes. In via San Maurilio 19, Giopato&Coombes presents SCARABEI: luminous organisms in constant expansion, akin to a natural process, with bodies that seem to grow and change in space, reminiscent of beetles. Filip Tack’s Più Objects - Conversations on Life at via Olona 4 features tables that function as serving dishes and screens that evoke open wardrobe designs. Belgian interior architect Filip Tack’s collection consists of durable, multifunctional furniture designed to accompany people through all stages of life. Each piece is handcrafted and built to transition easily from home to home, from generation to generation.

In via Santa Marta 10, Margraf debuts CRASH, an installation by Hannes Peer Architecture, renowned for its conceptual and multidisciplinary approach to architecture, design, and theoretical research. Bar Altra Vista will also be at the Cavallerizze, interpreting the concept of perspective, offering a space with multiple stories told through the artistic vision of Matteo Di Ciommo, Andrea Mancuso, Duilio Forte, Benedetta Mori Ubaldini, and many others. Also at the Cavallerizze, Eliurpi returns with Panta Rei: an exhibit of light sculptures inspired by Mediterranean algae.
